AI data centers, which are being rapidly developed and deployed, rely on optical communication systems to process massive volumes of data, where semiconductor optical devices play a critical role. In this talk, the current trends and future prospects of III-V compound semiconductor optical devices will be discussed. Specifically, the talk will focus on high-speed EA (Electro-Absorption) modulator-integrated lasers, high-power DFB (Distributed FeedBack) lasers, and VCSELs (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers), which are widely used in modern AI data centers.
