To improve the optical coupling efficiency of waveguide-type AR glasses, an asymmetric structure created by oblique deposition of TiO2 onto binary diffraction gratings is proposed. Using Rigorous Coupled-Wave Analysis (RCWA), the dominant diffraction ratio and diffraction asymmetry were evaluated with respect to grating height and fill factor. The analysis identified a parameter range where the addition of the TiO2 layer enables both high coupling efficiency and strong directional (unidirectional) diffraction characteristics. This approach is expected to facilitate the realization of high-efficiency input couplers without requiring complex fabrication processes.
