With the increasing demand for higher-capacity wireless communications, terahertz (THz)-band wireless communication technologies have attracted considerable attention. Furthermore, the realization of on-chip THz transmitters requires architectures that do not rely on external optical amplifiers. In this work, we investigate the feasibility of generating THz modulated signals without an optical fiber amplifier by increasing the output power of a silicon-photonics-based two-wavelength tunable laser in a THz signal generation scheme combining the two-wavelength tunable laser with optical-domain modulation.
