Cosmic ray imaging is a non-destructive technique for visualizing the internal structures of objects using cosmic-ray muons, with nuclear emulsion detectors employed as the detector system. In recent years, road collapse accidents caused by underground cavities have occurred frequently. To visualize underground cavities, we have been developing a borehole detector capable of housing nuclear emulsion detectors. In this study, a new detector structure was designed and evaluated to overcome the issues of groundwater intrusion and reduced detection efficiency observed in the conventional design.
