Cosmic-ray imaging is a non-destructive visualization technique for large-scale structures using cosmic-ray muons. We use nuclear emulsion as detectors for this technique. However, nuclear emulsion record the tracks of all charged particles that pass through them, and therefore accumulate not only muon signals but also noise tracks originating from environmental radiation. The accumulation of a large amount of noise leads to degradation of the performance of nuclear emulsion. To address this issue, we investigated a method to improve the S/N ratio during readout by thickening the emulsion layers of nuclear emulsion .
