We are investigating semiconductor-sensitized thermal cells (STCs), which generate electricity through redox reactions induced by thermally excited charges in semiconductors. In this study, to elucidate the power generation mechanism of STCs, we investigated the specific reactions contributing to electricity generation by introducing redox species exclusively on either the working electrode or the counter electrode side.
