We are developing Tip-oscillation synchronized infrared spectroscopy (TS-IR) by integrating an infrared laser with an ultra-high-vacuum FM-AFM. When IR light was irradiated onto a proprietary RTF sensor, a wavenumber-dependent dissipation response was observed. We observed a response originating from the Si–O bond in α-quartz for the sensor alone and a response originating from the epoxy resin for the sensor coated with silver paste, demonstrating that TS-IR can be used to analyze the composition of tip-fixing materials.
