With the aim of controlling the molecular arrangement by introducing substituents into DCNQI (dicyanoquinonediimine), we synthesized the asymmetric derivative 2-methyl-5-isopropyl-DCNQI. We evaluated its crystal structure and transistor characteristics. Single-crystal analysis revealed that it formed a brickwork arrangement at room temperature. However, the transfer integrals and symmetry were reduced due to the steric effect of the isopropyl group. The mobility of the thin-film transistor was 1.2 × 10-2 cm2/Vs under vacuum and 1.2 × 10-3 cm2/Vs in air.
