We developed a novel Q-switched laser using a gas-enclosed cell containing ozone as a solid-state-free optical control technology. To achieve the portability and safe containment of hazardous gas demanded by industry, a newly designed enclosed cell was fabricated. It demonstrated higher diffraction stability and lower noise than conventional open-type systems. Furthermore, integrating this cell into a cavity achieved stable Q-switching operation and enabled selective single-mode oscillation due to the high spatial mode selectivity of the gas optical element.
