In this study, we developed a broadband terahertz (THz) time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system driven by a 1 µm band ytterbium doped fiber laser. By generating and detecting THz-waves through Cherenkov phase matching using a 3 µm thick nonlinear optical waveguide, we achieved a broad bandwidth reaching 6.5 THz and a practical dynamic range. Because this method has only a small dependence on the wavelength of the pump laser, it can operate with lasers of various wavelengths and can serve as a versatile high performance THz-TDS.
