To achieve particle size reduction and improved cycling stability of Cu3[Fe(CN)6]2 (CuPBA), a cathode material for proton batteries, CuPBA was synthesized in the presence of alkyl sulfonated polyimide (ASPI), a proton-conductive polymer. The results showed that the introduction of ASPI reduced the crystallite size from 44.1 nm to 26.8 nm and improved both the initial capacity and capacity retention in charge–discharge tests. These results indicate that surface protection by ASPI and particle size reduction are effective in enhancing the electrode performance of CuPBA.
