We investigated the effects of He-ion irradiation on the structural and superconducting properties of epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7-ð thin films for radiation-tolerant superconducting applications in compact fusion reactors. X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and electrical transport measurements revealed c-axis expansion, local structural changes in the Cu–O chains, and a suppression of the superconducting transition temperature after irradiation. Post-irradiation oxygen annealing partially restored the superconducting properties, providing insight into the relationship between irradiation-induced defects, oxygen deficiency, and superconducting performance.
