High Temperature Superconducting Composite Conductors,Current distribution

In high temperature superconducting (HTS) composite conductors consisting of REBa2Cu3Oy (REBCO) tapes and low-resistance materials such as Cu or Al, localized heat generation near the electrical joint between the current leads and the conductor is a critical issue. To clarify the voltage generation and current density distribution near the joint between the current leads and the conductor in HTS composite conductors, we have been conducting the transport current measurements and finite element analysis (FEA). This report presents the verification results for two types of double-stacked conductors: a Face-to-Back Double Stacked conductor, in which the superconducting layer of one REBCO tape faces the metallic substrate side of the other tape, and a Face-to-Face Double Stacked conductor, in which the superconducting layers of the two REBCO tapes face each other.
