The 60th Annual Meeting of The Japanese Society of Developmental Biologists

Welcome Message

Welcome to the 60th Annual Meeting of JSDB in Tokushima!

It is my great honor to serve as Chair of the 60th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Developmental Biologists (JSDB2027), to be held from July 6 (Tue) to 9 (Fri), 2027, at Awagin Hall in Tokushima, Japan.

This year's meeting marks a special milestone: the 60th anniversary of our Society. Developmental biology has continued to address one of the most fundamental questions in life science — how a single fertilized egg gives rise to the astonishing diversity of cells, tissues, and organisms we see today. The 60 years of this Society's history reflect the accumulated dedication of our members, both in Japan and abroad, and I am delighted that we can take a new step toward the next decades of our field here in Tokushima.

The program will feature plenary lectures by Dr. Andrea Pauli (IMP Vienna) and Dr. Jacob Hanna (Weizmann Institute of Science), educational lectures by Prof. Hisato Kondoh and Prof. Yumiko Saga, and presentations from leading researchers at the forefront of the field from Japan and around the world. We are also planning a career-path seminar to support the next generation of researchers as they navigate their paths in science.

Tokushima is a region rich in nature and distinctive local culture. During the conference banquet, we are pleased to welcome a local Awa Odori dance troupe, offering participants a chance to experience the unique charm of Tokushima alongside the scientific program.

We look forward to welcoming members of our Society, as well as researchers from related fields around the world, to Tokushima for a meeting filled with lively discussion and new connections. The organizing committee is working hard to prepare a memorable 60th Annual Meeting, and we sincerely hope you will join us.
