患者は、家族は、何に期待して緩和ケアを選ぶのか―がん相談支援から見えたもの―

近年、時代の変遷と共に、緩和ケア病棟・ホスピスに求められる役割が変化してきているように感じられる。緩和ケア病棟はこれからどうあるべきなのか。緩和ケアの専門的技術を持つ医療機関として、社会の中でどのような役割を担うべきなのか。積極的治療を終えた余命間近な患者のみが静かに暮らす場でよいのか。コロナ禍以降、地域における緩和ケア提供の場が多様化する中で、緩和ケア病棟の運営はどのような課題を持っているのだろうか。それぞれの緩和ケア病棟では、入院相談や緩和ケア外来の体制、入院後の患者運用体制、医師配置体制など特色を活かしながら模索しているのではないだろうか。今、患者とその家族、地域から求められる緩和ケア病棟への新しい風は何か。それでも大切な緩和ケア病棟の魂の核は何か。３人のシンポジストの意見を踏まえて、令和の新しい緩和ケア病棟の在り方や次の時代への道標を見出すきっかけにするシンポジウムにしたい。
