緩和ケアが必要なこどもを支える「こどもホスピス」の地域展開に関する国のこれまで取組と今後の展開

近年の小児医療の目覚ましい進歩は、かつては救命が困難であった多くの命を繋ぐことを可能にしました。人口動態統計を見れば、0歳児の死因の多くを占める「先天奇形、変形及び染色体異常」による死亡数はこの20年で半数以下に減少し、小児がんの5年生存率も85％を超えるなど、医療の成果は顕著です。<br>こうした進歩の一方で、重篤な疾患や障害を抱えながら、地域社会で「生きる」こどもとその家族が増えています。今、小児医療は「救う医療」と、その先にある「支える医療」の両立が求められています。<br>疾患の治癒を目指す治療と、生きるを支える緩和ケアは決して対立するものではなく、常に並行して提供されるべきものです。本セッションでは、我が国の小児緩和ケアが今後どのような軌道を描くべきか、多角的な視点から現状の課題を掘り下げます。どこにいても、どんな時でも、こどもが「その子らしく」あり続けるために私たちに何ができるかを考えたいと思います。
