Probability-based sequence comparison finds the oldest ever nuclear mitochondrial DNA segments in mammalian genomes

Chromosome-scale and complete genome assemblies are becoming available for organisms across the whole Tree of Life. Genome alignments empower studies that cover evolutionary scales from thousands to billions of years.
