DTAB was examined as a cationic collector to remove silica, dolomite and alumina from phosphate sample provided from Abu-Tartur mine, Egypt. The response surface methodology and central composite design were used to optimize the best possible combination of pH and collector concentration for maximum gangue minerals rejection. 71% of MgO, 90% of SiO2 and 91% of Al2O3 were the rejection percents at the optimum experimental conditions with P2O5 grade and recovery of 31.7 % and 72% respectively.
