Leaching mechanism and kinetics of nickel extraction from low-grade limonitic ore of Halmahera Island(Indonesia) using citric acid solution under atmospheric pressure were investigated. The effects of variousparameters were studied to optimize the leaching conditions and to determine the kinetic of the leaching. Theresults indicated that the increase in the leaching time, temperature, citric acid concentration, pulp density andparticle size enhanced the leaching rate of nickel.
