Pyrite as main sulphide mineral that associated with acid mine drainage/AMD is one of the most serious environmental problems. One of the methods for controlling AMD is silica coating technique. To investigate the covering layer of silica on pyrite surface, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis of untreated and treated pyrite were conducted. The results show an increasing charge transfer resistance of treated pyrite that corresponds to establishment of silica layer on pyrite surface.
