Molten oxidation process was studied for recovering of iron value with crushing magnetic selection followed. Magnetite precipitation was preferred because of its intensive ferromagnetism and large crystal size. From previous mill-gram scale experiments, magnetite could be precipitated from the molten iron silicates during molten oxidation, while hematite was restrained at the atmosphere of 1 vol% of oxygen. In the present study, gram scale experiments was implemented by an electric furnace to verify the crystallization behaviors for an amplified experiment of molten oxidation at 1 vol% of oxygen for subsequent magnetic separation.
