All vanadium redox flow battery (VRB) is a novel energy storage device. It has several unique properties such as environment friendly, long operational life, transfer and store electricity effectively. The vanadium based electrolyte is one of the key material of the VRB. The experiment was separated and purified the vanadium from spent selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst by hydrometallurgy in this study. After hydrometallurgy recovery procedure, the produced vanadium was used to prepare the positive electrolyte that VRB need, and the trends of the positive electrolyte researches were also discussed.
