Automobile shredder residue (ASR) is usually incinerated in Taiwan. A two-step hydrocyclone separation process could separate the ASR into three principal components, including the light-mass flow (plastics, such as polyvinylchloride (PVC)) and two heavy-mass flow (metals and minerals (glass/stones)). The separated minerals (glass/stones) is tested by column test, the obtained sub-samples are recycling for producing functional materials such as high-pressure manufactured bricks blending with slags. These products undergo leaching tests and characteristic inspection. Accordingly, the ASR by-product functional materials could be promoted for use the resource recycling target was achieved.
