Zinc leach plant residues (ZLPRs) generated during zinc extraction are regarded as hazardous materials due to presence of heavy metals such as lead (Pb) hence affect ecosystem and people living nearby them. In this study we investigated removal of Pb from ZLPRs from Kabwe, a town in Zambia known to be among the most Pb - polluted towns in Africa. Pb was extracted in sodium chloride solution and extracted Pb was recovered on zero valent iron (ZVI) powder. The effects of ZVI dosage, solution composition and treatment time are reported.
