新潟県佐渡鉱山は、16世紀から20世紀にかけての日本を代表する貴金属鉱山であり、江戸時代には幕府直営の鉱山として盛大に稼行されていたが、現在では閉山している。前回、江戸時代の盛山時代にこの鉱山でどのような鉱石を採掘していたかを考察するため、文献調査、坑内および鉱床露頭部のフィールド調査と現在残されている高品位鉱石試料の化学分析を行い、江戸時代における佐渡鉱山の発展の要因を検証し報告した。今回はその後得られた知見について報告する。
