Recently, in order to reduce the traction sheave diameter, Resin-coated wire ropes have begun to be adopted as elevator main ropes. On the other hand, there are few documents or reports concerning the several performances required for the ropes when using it on an elevator. In this research, using a commercially available certain Resin-coated wire ropes, we velificated and evaluated the traction ability, the wear resistance and so on. As the results, we made it clear that this Resin-coated wire ropes have enough performances as elevator main ropes. The details are described in this article.
