佐渡の鉱山絵巻『佐渡にて筋金・砂金小判ニ仕立方仕法大概書』の読み解きを試みる中、浅熱水鉱床と中熱水鉱床の相違が、必要とする鉱山技術がどれほど異なっているのか先行研究と併せて整理を試みるもの。時代の違い、採掘の対象となる金鉱石生成過程の違いから生まれる鉱山技術の相違点、江戸期鉱山用語についてあらためて再考する。
