In this study, the flotation effect of a novel collector, 2-(octylthio)aniline (2-OA), was compared with the conventional collector, potassium amylxanthate (PAX), using three types of sulfide ores: copper sulfide ore, gold sulfide ore and polymetallic sulfide ore. In copper sulfide ore flotation, 2-OA achieved higher copper recovery and grade than that of PAX. For the gold sulfide ore, 2-OA yielded a higher gold grade in the concentrate compared to PAX. Furthermore, higher copper and silver grades were also obtained using 2-OA in the flotation of polymetallic sulfide ore. The results showed that collector 2-OA exhibited effectiveness and higher flotability than PAX in the flotation of sulfide ores.
