This symposium explores how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming our understanding and management of myopia. As the global burden of myopia rises, this symposium offers timely insights into how AI can drive innovation in both research and clinical care. Prof. Sakurada introduces the Personalized Health-Digital Twin, a data-driven framework that maps biological dynamics into state spaces, enabling individualized prediction of disease progression and fostering preventive medicine. Ms. Wang presents AI tools for high myopia, including deep learning models for staphyloma detection via UWF-OCT, prediction of macular neovascularization using fundus images, and algorithms for forecasting visual acuity decline. Dr. Fateh showcases an adaptive AI-based platform that modulates peripheral retinal stimulation in real-time via XR virtual glasses, offering highly customized and responsive myopia management adapted to each eye’s needs and user lifestyle. Prof. He shares insights from large-scale cohort studies in China, integrating axial length, retinal imaging, genetics, and environmental data to develop predictive models for high myopia and macular degeneration. Collectively, these presentations demonstrate how AI-driven approaches are advancing precision care and reshaping the future landscape of myopia control.
