Bangladesh faces increasing challenges from soil acidification, reducing crop productivity and threatening sustainable agriculture. This case study presents a national pilot project involving the production and distribution of 100,000 metric tons of fortified organic fertilizers to improve acidic soil health. The fertilizer, enriched with essential nutrients and soil-conditioning materials, was distributed across major acid-prone regions through coordinated public-private initiatives. Field evaluations showed improvements in soil pH, organic matter, nutrient availability, and crop yields while reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. The project also enhanced farmers' awareness of sustainable soil management and demonstrated the feasibility of large-scale adoption. The findings provide a scalable model for restoring acidic soils, improving food security, and supporting climate-resilient agriculture in Bangladesh and similar agroecological regions.
