The N2026 Multi-stakeholder Roundtables (MSR) are a four-part dialogue process bringing together researchers, policymakers, industry, agriculture, youth, civil society, and other participants to explore pathways toward sustainable nitrogen management for future generations. The series moves from reflection on past progress and future needs, through stakeholder actions and collaboration, to a plenary harvest of insights from across N2026 and their synthesis for the Kyoto Declaration process. Participants are welcome to join any stage, while participation across multiple sessions will allow them to follow the dialogue as it develops.
This first stage explores how sustainable nitrogen management has evolved from the past to the present, what challenges remain, and what should be different thirty years from now. In small, mixed-stakeholder groups, participants will reflect on past progress and persistent barriers, imagine a desirable future, and discuss what needs to change now to move toward it. The discussion will provide broad, future-oriented messages that can inform the subsequent stages of the MSR and the Kyoto Declaration process.
