Frontal Lobe and Language Function: A Clinical Perspective

The frontal lobe is the seat of fluid intelligence, enabling adaptive and efficient behavior, and exerts executive function, coordinating cognitive processes for goal-directed actions. However, the mechanisms underlying these functions remain elusive. Advances in AI, with responses increasingly indistinguishable from human behavior, may offer valuable insights into human prefrontal functioning. Although the presence of free will and self-consciousness in AI is debatable, its responses suggest fluid intelligence and executive function. This symposium will bring together neuropsychologists and AI scientists to deepen our understanding of the human prefrontal cortex and AI’s general intelligence by discussing their algorithms, architectures, and similarities and differences.
