Recent discoveries of specific genetic mutations in Notch3, Col4A1, and ABCC6 have significantly advanced our understanding of hemorrhagic cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). This symposium aims to explore these findings and their implications for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Leading researchers and clinicians will present cutting-edge research on these genetic factors, discussing their roles in vessel fragility and hemorrhage. We'll examine Notch3 mutations beyond CADASIL, Col4A1's impact on basement membrane integrity, and ABCC6's involvement in CSVD and potential systemic manifestations.
The symposium will focus on presenting the latest research findings, exploring mechanisms linking mutations to hemorrhagic CSVD, discussing implications for personalized medicine and targeted therapies, and identifying key areas for future research and collaboration. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, we aim to accelerate progress in understanding and managing hemorrhagic CSVD, ultimately improving patient care and outcomes in this critical area of neurovascular health.

[S-07-1]Spatial Distribution of Cerebral Microbleeds Reveals Heterogeneous Pathogenesis in CADASIL
Sung-Chun Tang (Department of Neurology, National Taiwan University Hospital, Taiwan)
Dr. Sung-Chun Tang is currently a Professor in the Department of Neurology and the Director of the
Stroke Center at National Taiwan University Hospital. Dr. Tang received his MD from the College of
Medicine and his PhD from the Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine at National Taiwan University.
After completing his neurology residency training at NTUH, he participated in a two-year exchange
program in the laboratory of Professor Mark P. Mattson at the National Institute on Aging, NIH, during
2005-2006. In addition to his basic stroke research, Dr. Tang has a strong interest in genetic cerebral
small vessel disease, and NOAC concentration in stroke prevention, among other areas. His related work
has been published in highly cited and competitive international journals.

[S-07-3]New Disease Concept "Pro-hemorrhagic CADASIL"
Satoshi Saito, Hiroyuki Ishiyama, Masafumi Ihara (Department of Neurology, National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, Japan)
Dr. Satoshi Saito is the Chief Physician of the Department of Neurology at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Japan, specializing in translational research in neurology. His research focuses on elucidating the pathophysiology of cerebral small vessel diseases and developing novel therapeutic approaches for CADASIL and CAA. After receiving his PhD from Kyoto University in 2017, Dr. Saito conducted postdoctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Masafumi Ihara at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center. From 2019 to 2021, he continued his postdoctoral work under the guidance of Prof. Roxana Carare and Prof. Roy Weller at the University of Southampton in the UK. Since 2021, he resumed his research in collaboration with Dr. Ihara in Japan. Dr. Saito holds seven patents and has authored 75 peer-reviewed research articles, including 20 as the first author. He has received multiple awards, including the Japan Stroke Society Award 2017.
