Spatial Transcriptomics: Current Advances and Future Perspectives — Computational Approaches to Understanding Neural Function from Large-Scale, High-Dimensional Data —

In this luncheon seminar, we address the question, &ldquo;How does the brain acquire species-specific characteristics?&rdquo; from the perspective of spatial transcriptomics. First, Yasuhiro GO, Ph.D.will provide a clear overview of the definition and fundamental concepts of spatial transcriptomics, and introduce an informatics-based analytical framework that connects large-scale, high-dimensional data to the understanding of neural function. Next, Tomomi Shimogori, Ph.D. will present high-resolution analyses of the spatial organization and molecular states of cellular populations during brain development, highlighting molecular mechanisms that drive primate-specific neural circuit formation through concrete case studies. In addition, Vizgen will introduce recent application-focused research examples utilizing spatial transcriptomics technologies. Through a coherent progression from conceptual foundations to practical applications, this seminar will discuss the potential of next-generation neuroscience research.
