Frontiers in Parkinson’s Disease Therapy: From Symptomatic Treatment to Disease-Modifying Therapy

This lecture will provide a broad overview of the current landscape of Parkinson&rsquo;s disease therapy, from symptomatic treatments used in daily clinical practice to future disease-modifying approaches. It will cover recent advances in levodopa therapy, continuous drug delivery, and device-aided treatments including DBS, as well as emerging strategies targeting &alpha;-synuclein, mitochondrial dysfunction, and gene and cell-based therapies. Beyond improving motor symptoms, the lecture will also focus on how treatment strategies are evolving to address non-motor symptoms, advanced-stage disease, and quality of life, and will discuss the future direction of Parkinson&rsquo;s disease care.
