Neuroscience and neurotechnology are attracting global attention as the next frontier of national competitiveness following AI. In Japan, however, the cross-disciplinary nature of neuroscience and neurotechnology—spanning healthcare, communications, defense, and industry—has made it difficult to establish cross-ministerial strategies, data-sharing infrastructure, and collaborative frameworks to support industrialization. This seminar will bring together policy and program leaders from NEDO, MIC, the Cabinet Office Moonshot Program, and related initiatives to present recent developments in policy, R&D, and societal implementation across their respective organizations and research programs. In addition, the seminar will explore industry-academia-government collaboration and the challenges and opportunities in translating neuroscience research into societal and industrial applications, while considering future directions for Japan’s neurotechnology strategy, industrial development, and corporate engagement.
