Skull clearing technique for minimally-invasive brain imaging

Multiphoton microscopy is widely used for imaging biological specimens, and one of the major challenges is performing imaging in a minimally invasive manner while preserving the animal’s natural physiological and behavioral state. Following the principle that the microscope should adapt to the specimen, Thorlabs offers a wide range of solutions from a two-photon microscope with a rotatable body to a miniaturized microscope that enables two-photon imaging in freely behaving animals. In this seminar, Dr. Mikuni from the Brain Research Institute of Niigata University will present his latest research on a skull-clearing technique that enables rapid, minimally invasive, and high-precision in vivo brain imaging without the need for skull removal.
