Photo-Isolation Chemistry (PIC) is a local transcriptomics technology that enables to isolate high-depth gene expression profiles only from UV-irradiated regions within tissue sections. Since tissues are irradiated with UV light in submicron resolution, this method allows analysis of various brain regions as well as extremely rare neuronal cell populations. In this seminar, I will introduce examples of PIC applications in neuroscience, practical tips for its implementation, and recent advancements in the technology through the development of specialized microscopy systems.
