We experimentally demonstrate a hybrid coherent and direct detection receiver with asynchronous intensity-modulated LO. We successfully detect single-polarization 992-Gb/s PS-144-QAM signal using 430-Gb/s PS-PAM-16 LO, allowing directly-modulated transmitter in uplink transmission and downlink detection simultaneously.
