This study presents the linear- and Geiger-mode performance of an InP-based avalanche photodetector for single-photon detection at near-room temperature. The noise-equivalent-power, signal-to-noise ratio, and figure-of-merit (FoM) are utilized to quantify the proposed single-photon detection approach.
