This paper reviews ultra-wideband inline-amplified WDM transmission systems, including bandwidth extension to the U-band, using optical parametric amplification and waveband conversion based on our high-efficiency periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) χ(2)-nonlinear waveguides.
