A ridge-type waveguide and high-speed electro-absorption modulator laser (EML) using a low-dielectric-constant BCB traveling-wave electrode has been shown. 50-ohm impedance matching and traveling-wave structure lead to a clear 50Gbit/s NRZ eye diagram.
