A silicon-on-insulator based grating coupler for free-space-to-chip coupling of terahertz waves with coupling efficiency of 55.6% at 0.75THz and a 3dB bandwidth of 71GHz in the range 0.71 to 0.79THz is designed and numerically optimized.
