With the Tokyo Olympics Games and Paralympics Games coming up, interest in sports is expected to increase dramatically in Japan. At the same time, we have to deal with the global problem of doping. Anti-doping activities require a full of knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences, including not only pharmacology and analytics, but also practice. Therefore, there are also high expectations for those involved in the pharmaceutical sciences in addition to pharmacists. In this symposium, Dr. Okazaki, a pharmacist as well as a player and staff member of the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the B League, will speak on “Two perspectives of Pharmacists and Athletes”, and Dr. Muraki, an experienced Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) medical staff member and a hospital pharmacist, will speak on “From the Perspective of Hospital Pharmacists”. Dr. Shimizu, who developed a card games to educate on the prevention of inadvertent doping, introduce anti-doping activities from the perspective of a pharmacy pharmacist and sports pharmacist, and Dr. Nakajima introduced anti-doping activities from the perspective of an educator, targeting Olympic candidates. The symposium will provide information on what pharmaceutical professionals should know and do in anti-doping activities, and it is hoped that the symposium will greatly invigorate “Anti-Doping Education and Research in Pharmacy”.
