Development of optogenetic and bioimaging tools based on the cyanobacterial photoreceptors

This symposium aims to facilitate the fusion and activation of research fields in order to accelerate the translation of light into medicine. We intend to achieve this by bringing together researchers from two distinct fields: photochemistry, which serves as the source of photofunctional molecules, and drug delivery system (DDS), designed to efficiently transport these molecules to target organs and cells (bio distribution control) and to control their subcellular localization (intracellular trafficking control). The symposium will provide a platform for experts to deliberate on the potential advancements in the field of "light to medicine" by drawing researchers from various fields. We anticipate that this symposium will foster lively discussions among professionals with diverse backgrounds, including pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, biochemistry and medicine. We hope that this symposium will contribute to the next generation of Photo Bio Medicine using optical technology.
