Women's Life Stages and Health: New Perspectives and Outlooks from Pharmacology

Sun. Mar 31, 2024 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM JST
Sun. Mar 31, 2024 6:30 AM - 8:30 AM UTC
[Room 302] Conference Center 302 (3F)
Organizer: Natsuki Suganuma (Keio Univ./bacterico Co., Ltd.), Daisuke Nakai (DAIICHI SANKYO Co., Ltd.), Masateru Miyake (Pharmapack Co., Ltd.)
Due to the implementation of the "Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace" the working styles of women have significantly changed. With these changes, many organizations, including private companies, have become actively involved in women's health management. However, the solutions to health issues unique to women are not sufficient, posing challenges to their social and economic activities. Given this backdrop, the importance of research focusing on women's health is ever-increasing.
Currently, there is a united front from industry, government, and academia advancing various studies. These include unique preventive measures and therapeutic strategies for health challenges during various life stages such as menstruation, childbirth, and menopause. The research ranges from foundational studies on women's health and treatment to pharmacotherapeutics for specific diseases, and even to pharmacokinetics research understanding the differences in drug actions within the body based on gender. Comprehensive approaches to women's health management are being explored. Based on these research findings, startups are developing products and services which are subsequently offered to private businesses, highlighting the collaborative efforts between industry, government, and academia.
This symposium provides an opportunity for six researchers from industry, government, and academia who are addressing these crucial gender-specific health challenges to introduce their individual research perspectives and discuss the future potentials and directions of collaborations among industry, government, and academia. Through active discussions between panelists and attendees, we hope to pave the way for the future of pharmaceutical research concerning women's health.
