[SY-94]International Activities by Psychiatric Societies and Associations

As evidenced at this international congress, the international exchanges have been increasingly important for the progress of psychiatry and psychiatric care. This symposium will present the international activities of four major psychiatric societies and associations in Asia.
The Korean Neuropsychiatric Association will report
1. The efforts in removing social stigma of severe mental illness: renaming schizophrenia to detunement disorder.
2. Lowering the suicide risk at the world's highest level with national government cooperation.
3. Conflicts on involuntary admission and consistent trials on mental health law renewal.
4. Activities of disaster psychiatry for recent tragic events.
The Taiwanese Society of Psychiatry will report
1. Different stages of mental health system development
2. Psychiatric services for severe mental illness
3. Development of community mental health care
4. Amendment of Mental Health Act
5. Preventive Psychiatry focus on early intervention
6. Unmet needs of the mental health services
The Japanese Society of Psychiatry Neurology will report the activities
1. To build a collaborative network with international psychiatric organizations and international psychiatrists
2. To strengthen the international activities of JSPN members
3. To support mental health services for foreigners in Japan
Singapore Psychiatric Association will present
1. Mental health challenges with an aging population, chronic illnesses, and youth stressors in a complex and uncertain world
2. Suite of services for severe mental illnesses, from stabilization to rehabilitation
3. A community-based approach and hospital-community collaborations for mental health care, integrating physical, mental, and social health services.
4. Promoting mental wellness, early detection, and early help-seeking
