Janctophillin-2 in Ca<sup>2+</sup> microdomains of vascular smooth muscle cells

This symposium aims to honor Professor Hiroshi Takeshima's outstanding academic achievements upon his retirement. He has made significant contributions to physiological research through the discovery and elucidation of the functions of key molecules involved in regulating intracellular Ca2+ signaling, including ryanodine receptors (RyR1), junctophilin family proteins (JPH1-4), TRIC-A/B, and MG53. These discoveries have significantly advanced our understanding of the regulatory mechanisms for Ca2+ signal homeostasis, excitation-contraction coupling, and membrane repair, paving the way for elucidating pathogenic mechanisms and future clinical applications in neuromuscular and cardiovascular medicine. This symposium will introduce pioneering research on Ca2+ signal regulation and discuss prospects of future research and clinical applications.
