The communication range of underwater acoustic communication largely depends on the energy attenuation associated with sound wave propagation, and various methods of sound wave propagation analysis are used to estimate the communication range. We have previously performed sound wave propagation analysis using the parabolic equation (PE) method and shown the differences in sound wave propagation characteristics with water depth. In this paper, we report on a sound wave propagation analysis conducted in shallow water areas based on seabed topographic data measured by sonar.
