[A-15-04]Continuous Topology Optimization of Multi-Layer Porous Screens using SDF and Differentiable Rendering

In multi-layer porous screens for volumetric displays, designing mesh patterns with high transmittance is crucial. While conventional discrete optimization using genetic algorithms has theoretical limits in improving transmittance, this paper proposes a continuous topology optimization method using Signed Distance Functions (SDF) and differentiable rendering. By introducing organic curved structures and dynamic penalty learning, the proposed method significantly reduces the light blocking rate while allowing only a slight increase in crosstalk, achieving substantial improvements in both convergence speed and overall optical performance.
